iF3 VideoQuest Owl’s Head 2014
For a second year in a row, the iF3 VideoQuest happened at Owl’s Head in Quebec’s Eastern Townships. The production crews had all of the 2014 ski season to film and edit a condensed version of their perception of the resort in a two and a half minute video.
The participating teams each had unique concepts to show what skiing at Owl’s Head meant to them personally, as well as different approaches to present them.
FF Production, rookies on the scene, surprised the crowd with the unexpected use of a filming drone to capture impressive angles in their video. We’re looking forward to see these passionate guys grow into great filmers and riders in the coming years.
Sunrise and Good People then showed their entry, presenting the mountain as seen at night with spotlights, fireworks and absolutely spectacular special effects. The cinematography was without a doubt at a very high level.
It was then up to Union Production, who showed the spectators what their crew can do with ease and style: a top-to-bottom run in shotgun, using as many features, side hits and Owl’s Head landmarks as possible (including a chairlift cable). Union’s submission was worthy of their talent and creativity.
The final presentation was Alabianco’s. This video told the story of a group of friends that has always skied at Owl’s Head and that enjoys this resort for much more than its trails and terrain. The storytelling and artistic side of this video were a true highlight of the event in itself.
Choosing a winner was no easy task, given that each team had a different style of skiing and style of cinematography. Each entry truly brought a special touch to the event and the show, as a whole, was impressive and inspiring. We are very proud of our participants and they are all winners from our point of view.
However, it was Union Production that took home the 500$ prize for a second consecutive year. Their video will be presented at Montreal’s iF3 Festival, which will take place from September 18th-20th, 2014.
The event was a success and we would like to thank Luc “Skypowder” Saint-Jacques and his team at Owl’s Head for the help and support when planning the event. Already looking forward to seeing everyone again next year for the 2015 edition at Owl’s Head!
